Project Management for Results

Organizations are increasingly dependent on the development and management of critical projects. The management of these projects is critical to the organization’s competitive status. To increase productivity and effectiveness, today’s organization requires people with hands-on project management skills.

This foundation course on project management provides project management professionals the essential skills required to begin and complete a project successfully. The course focuses on providing students with critical project management concepts, which they can apply to actual projects they are developing or plan to develop.

The course covers the importance of setting project objectives, defining requirements, project planning, problem solving, cost estimating, life cycle concerns, risk assessment, project reporting, time management, team leadership, the role of software project tools and project completion.

Students gain an understanding of the role of the project manager and of project team members. Students examine the challenges they will face as a project team leader. The importance of effective project team communication and team relationships to project success are explored.

Professional Instruction — Our instructors provide both academically sound knowledge and practical insight into project management. Their refined instructional skills and technical knowledge assure that students will not only receive solid instructional material, but that they will be able to apply their knowledge to real-life situations. Our goal is to provide your students with project management training that also makes their classroom experience a pleasure.

Custom Student Workbooks — Unlike other suppliers who use generic, off-the-shelf student books or manuals, Livingston & Associates student materials are custom built to meet your organization’s specific needs.

Our course materials emphasize the practical application of project management techniques and models. The student guide is designed to be a learning tool rather than a regurgitation of academic concepts.

Our mission is to help students actively learn and apply the material rather than conduct a ‘book learning’ course. Also, the student manuals make excellent reference documents after class.

Case Study Exercises & Hands-on Computer Lab Time — All project management classes are practical and results oriented. Students learn the concepts and apply them through various class case study exercises which simulate a project management environment. This enables students to use their knowledge in a non-threatening environment, even fail and learn from their mistakes and successes in the classroom.
