Organizations are increasingly dependent on the development and management of critical projects. The management of these projects is critical to the organization’s competitive status. To increase productivity and effectiveness, today’s organization requires people with hands-on project management skills. This foundation course on project management provides project management professionals the essential skills required to begin and complete a project successfully. The course focuses on providing students with critical project management concepts, which they can apply to actual projects they are developing or plan to develop. The course covers the importance of setting project objectives, defining requirements, project planning, problem solving, cost estimating, life cycle concerns, risk assessment, project reporting, time management, team leadership, the role of software project tools and project completion. Students gain an understanding of the role of the project manager and of project team members. Students examine the challenges they will face as a project team leader. The importance of effective project team communication and team relationships to project success are explored. |
